The ongoing buzz regarding Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was that a fourth surgery on his forearm would be required. At this point that surgery is scheduled for Monday and barring any infection that would require a fifth surgery, Gronk is expected to be ready for Week 1. However, new reports state the fantasy football stud will "probably" also go under the knife for back surgery 3-4 weeks after Monday's procedure.
There are too many moving parts at this moment to gauge what all of this means for the 2013 season, but obviously there are concerns. It's worth noting that Gronkowski missed the entire 2009 season at Arizona because of a back injury. Of course Gronk also sat out five games last year and owners will need to make a major investment if they want the touchdown scoring weapon this upcoming campaign.
