Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams is out of surgery and resting after he was stabbed in the stomach during an attempted robbery Saturday morning. Adams' agent, Eric Metz, told Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports that he spoke to the tackle once he was out of surgery, and he said he feels fortunate. Metz said the knife missed "some" vital organs.
Metz was told that Adams was suddenly approached by two men Saturday morning while sitting in his truck. One of the men had a knife, the other had a gun. Metz said team security told him that there were witnesses of the crime, but no arrests have yet been made.
Metz also said Adams is expected to need six weeks to fully heal from his wounds, but he should be ready to go in time for training camp.
No fantasy analysis here. I don't really care how long it takes Adams to get back on the field; that shouldn't be very important here. The man just got robbed and stabbed, and he knows he is lucky to be alive. Football is secondary in such matters. Surely, Adams wants to play as soon as possible, but he should take his time.
