Offensive depth isn't exactly a strength for the Jets. But for the time being, they will be very short handed at wide receiver. Santonio Holmes is not taking part in offseason workouts, but he also may not be available when training camp opens. Head coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday there is a "possibility" that Holmes will be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list when camp starts. Holmes is rehabbing after suffering a Lisfranc fracture last September.
Elsewhere, Stephen Hill was pulled out of practice because of fluid building up in his right knee. Hill had the LCL in that knee surgically repaired in December.
Lastly, Jeremy Kerley was "backed down" in today's practice because of a "slight heel issue," according to Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger.
The training camp PUP list is different from the regular season PUP list. If Holmes is placed on the former, he wouldn't have to miss a designated amount of time. He could come off it at any time after camp begins. As to when Holmes will be healthy seems up in the air right now.
I'm not worried about Hill and Kerley. But I will also not be drafting any of these players -- or any WR or QB on the Jets for that matter -- in my fantasy league.
