It has been months since I have written anything about Robert Griffin III . I needed the break, but now I'm ready to dive back in, and there is something worth writing about today. Griffin told reporters on Thursday he is "without a doubt" that he will be ready to go when Redskins training camp opens. How can he be so certain?
"One, it's a month (away)." Griffin said. "And then, two, it's just how I feel and how it's progressed. Over the last three weeks, I've had a lot of progress and I feel a lot better."
However, no matter what he says or how hard he works, Griffin knows there is a chance he may not be ready come the start of camp.
"I think it's the right target if I'm healthy," he said. "... If I'm not, I can swallow my pride."
We're always skeptical about upbeat things that players say regarding their own health, and these comments should be treated no differently. However, you can't become blind to the amount of positive press surrounding Griffin's comeback. We still don't know where he will be, health-wise, in seven weeks when camp opens. That's why he is a low-end QB1 right now. But everybody will be talking about how far up he should be moved in the rankings if his words today prove prophetic.
