On the same day that one Rams insider was extolling wide receiver Brian Quick, another one, the St Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Lyons, was printing an upbeat piece about wide receiver Chris Givens . In the article, Givens talks about how he wants to be more of a leader among the team's wideouts, especially with Danny Amendola gone, and how he has much more confidence in himself and a greater understanding of what to do on the field in his second year. It also mentions how Givens will line up at different spots, and quarterback Sam Bradford said he expects Givens to have "a great year."
Givens had a stretch last season in which he was one of the game's most prolific deep receivers, catching a 50-yard pass in five consecutive games, an NFL record. The Rams are working toward making Givens a well-rounded player, but his straight-line speed is his best trait right now. Thus, he may continue to be inconsistent from week to week. But in an offense chock-full of young receivers, there's a chance Bradford and Givens really click, and Givens turns into quite the draft pick. He should be selected as a WR4.
