Trent Richardson's status for training camp depended on which you wanted to believe. Initial reports stated that Richardson was expected to be sidelined until August due to his leg strain. Richardson then came forward and said he will be good to go in time for the start of training camp in July. On Thursday, I guess CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora sort of broke the tie, and he is siding with the player.
"I'm told there is every expectation that [Richards] will be taking reps when camp opens," La Canfora wrote.
It's a small bit of good news for a player who hasn't seen much of it during offseason workouts. Richardson has been sidelined for about a month because of this leg injury. And this, of course, comes after a rookie season in which he got off to a slow start because of knee surgery, was forced to sleep upright due to cracked ribs and ended with an ankle injury. I think there was a finger injury in there, too.
Injury concerns and all, Richardson is still definitely an RB1. Now let's see if he can get healthy before training camp and stay that way into September at least.
