Vikings RB Adrian Peterson says he 'kind of sat out' first 5 games last season

Pete Prisco of sat down with Vikings running back Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson recently to discuss all aspects of the MVP's recovery from torn knee ligaments and to review some game tape during Peterson's historic 2012 season. But we're done with 2012; what about 2013? Prisco throws this out the possibility of 3,000 yards, and Peterson doesn't dismiss it.
"It's possible, it can happen," Peterson said. "When I look back on the film and see those first five games, 2,500 yards was reachable. The record was crushed. Considering the time I played and the games I kind of sat out. The first five weeks I really didn't get to play that much."
Peterson averaged 19.2 carries per game in the first five weeks of last season and recorded just one 100-yard performance before going on a major tear in the middle of October. He will need to average 156.25 rushing yards per game to reach 2,500 this season. He'll need to average 187.5 yards per game to reach 3,000.

Fantasy Analysis:

Years from now, we will regale our children and our children's children with stories of the legendary Adrian Lewis Peterson. No one could ever prove that he was fully human, and he once ran for more than 2,000 yards in a season despite not being at full strength for the first five weeks, playing in games in which the referees inexplicably allowed 13 defenders on the field for every running play, and that he did it all while blindfolded and participating in a hunger strike.
Adrian Peterson is a good player. He is your No. 1 pick in fantasy football. He is not going to run for 2,500 yards this season or any other season.
