Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones are the top candidates to become the Bengals' second wide receiver this season with A.J. Green holding down the No. 1 spot, and Andrew Hawkins lining up in the slot. Sanu and Jones will prove who is more deserving in training camp, but if we're making guesses in June, Sanu has the edge, according to ESPN's AFC North blogger, Jamison Hensley.
Sanu caught 16 passes for 154 yards and four touchdowns last season as a rookie before breaking his foot Nov. 30.
Sanu said back in April that his foot is 100 percent. Sanu and Jones are probably pretty equal heading into camp, and I don't have a lot to point to in support of one player over another. But I keep reminding myself of that three-week stretch last season in which Sanu scored four touchdowns, and it definitely has me in his corner. I selected Sanu in the 17th round of a 12-team draft on Tuesday, and getting any starting WR that late in a PPR draft is pretty swell.
