Six weeks ago, Michael Crabtree tore his right Achilles tendon during organized team activities. He isn't expected to play again until November at the earliest, but the long road back for Crabtree to play again began Monday. Crabtree wrote on his Twitter account late Sunday night that he was ready to resume his workouts the following day. Meanwhile, the 49ers are trying to figure out who among A.J. Jenkins , Quinton Patton, and Ricardo Lockette deserves the first shot to fill Crabtree's shoes in the lineup.
Crabtree is going to be out until the middle of November, and I see that timetable as optimistic given the position he plays and how much cutting it requires. I think there's a rather good chance that he will miss the entire regular season. Regardless, even if the best-case scenario does play out, Crabtree isn't worth drafting in fantasy leagues. The WR competition between those three youngsters will be watched heavily during training camp.
