We know that Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon won't play in the first four games of the regular season due to a suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Now his availability for the start of training camp is in question. Blackmon recently underwent groin surgery and is uncertain for the open of camp, July 26. The date of the surgery and what it exactly entailed is unknown. Blackmon was limited during June minicamp and was held out of the final session on June 14.
Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union surmises that Mohamed Massaquoi would join Cecil Shorts on the first-string offense if Blackmon isn't healthy when camp starts.
This doesn't really move the needle regarding Blackmon's fantasy value. He was already a late-round pick as is; that doesn't change if he misses a handful of days of training camp. I have a feeling we will revisit this story in a few weeks.
