The Victor Cruz saga is over. You no longer have to worry about a holdout as the 26-year-old wideout has a new, hefty contract extension. Specifically, he and the Giants have agreed to a five-year deal worth $43 million. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer first broke the news on Twitter. On top of Cruz's one-year tender, which he signed last month, Cruz is now under contract for six years at a price close to $46 million. Glazer writes that Cruz is expected to sign the contract Tuesday.
So that's over. The total value of the contract is the sixth-most for an NFL wide receiver, behind only Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, and Dwayne Bowe. But in terms of annual average, Cruz's contract ranks just 17th among WRs, so it's a pretty affordable deal for the Giants, who have Cruz under control through his age-31 season. Now you don't need to sweat at all when you choose Cruz as a WR1 or high-end WR2. He will be in attendance when Giants camp opens July 26.
