Last week, Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly told us that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick starting in Week 1 is far from a lock. Today, he lets us know that a spot for Vick on the roster is also not guaranteed.
In his Monday Mailbag column, Mosher ran through some of the veterans who could be cut in training camp, and said "Michael Vick, of course, could be a roster casualty if [head coach Chip Kelly] is sold on Nick Foles and the promise of Matt Barkley."
Mosher mentioned wide receivers Riley Cooper and Arrelious Benn, and tight end Clay Harbor as players who could be left on the outside when camp breaks. But Vick is the biggest name on his list, by far. Last week, I found it hard to believe that Vick wouldn't be the Eagles' starting QB, so I would be absolutely shocked if he falls so far as to be cut before the seasons starts. But I can't wait to see how he, Foles, and Barkley look during camp and preseason games. Vick is still a high-risk, high-reward QB2 in fantasy.
