At this point, I would like to see an Eagles beat writer come out in support of Michael Vick for starting quarterback. Jimmy Kempski of The Morning Call became the latest to cast doubt on Vick's future as a starter Monday when he wrote that Nick Foles is ahead of Vick in their competition heading into training camp. Granted, if this were a marathon, Kempski said we would be in "mile 1," but Foles helped gain his lead by outplaying Vick during OTAs and minicamp.
"Foles got the ball out quicker than Vick, was generally more accurate, and is putting receivers in a better position to get yards after the catch," Kempski wrote.
Geoff Mosher and Reuben Frank have already said Vick might not be/shouldn't be the team's starter in Week 1. The growing chorus is rather alarming for someone like me, who has been targeting Vick as a QB2 in many drafts. He could still keep his job with a strong cap, but it doesn't sound like he will be given the benefit of the doubt.
