The 49ers don't have a great idea who will be lining up out wide this season. That should be ironed out during training camp, and Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee has written a handy, comprehensive piece on all of the parties involved, including top candidates A.J. Jenkins , Quinton Patton, and Ricardo Lockette . But at least there the 49ers have one wide receiver they can depend on while the young guys develop. Barrows wrote that Anquan Boldin has looked "as if he'd been playing with Colin Kaepernick for 10 years rather than a few weeks."
And that's what quarterbacks love about Boldin. He's dependable, he has great hands, he runs good routes, and he fights hard in coverage. He's very safe, both on the field and in fantasy. Boldin may be the Niners' No. 1 WR, but he's best as a WR4 in our game. And in that area of the draft, I'd much rather own a player with much more upside, such as Vincent Brown or Michael Floyd, than Boldin.
Even with a shortage of proven, explosive receivers, Kaepernick is still a solid QB1 because of his legs.
