The Jets will hold their first practice of training camp in nine days. Wide receiver Santonio Holmes wasn't expected to be on the field for that practice as he recovers from a Grade 4 Lisfranc fracture, the most severe Lisfranc injury. Rich Cimini of ESPN New York offered what was basically confirmation on Wednesday, writing that Holmes is expected to open camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, and there are no guarantees that he will be ready for Week 1.
You might see other big names open the year on the training camp PUP, but it's not a big deal as they can be removed at any time. Last we heard from Holmes about a month ago, he had yet to even start running on his surgically repaired foot, so yeah, his availability for Week 1 is definitely in jeopardy. Right now, you are either taking Holmes in the last round of a deep-league draft or avoiding him completely. No other Jets receiver is appealing either.
