Rams looking to spread the wealth in passing game

The Rams' offense hasn't exactly been confused for the Saints' offense for the last handful of years, but Rams COO Kevin Demoff thinks his team can be successful by spreading the ball around much like they do in New Orleans.
"The goal this year is for Sam (Bradford) to be able to throw to the "open" player, and I expect that we will get meaningful contributions from all 5 WR's, the 2 TE's and the running backs," Demoff wrote. "I think you could see this offense resemble an offense like the Saints where you have 4 or 5 players catch 40-50 balls but nobody who catches 70 or 80. I'm not saying that we are the Saints offense, we need to improve to become that, but more that style where anybody can be a threat on any play."

Fantasy Analysis:

The irony being that the Saints have had three players surpass 70 catches in each of the past two years, and the Rams have had one such player since 2008. But I get the gist of what Demoff is saying, and I don't think it's something Bradford should try to achieve. He is going to need a go-to receiver. Tavon Austin @Tayaustin01 and tight end Jared Cook @JaredCook89 are my two favorites. That doesn't mean Bradford will forget about Chris Givens @CG1three, Brian Quick @WORKAHOLIC_BQ, Austin Pettis @Austin_Pettis and Stedman Bailey @iamSB3, but those two should stand out while the others play complementary roles. Also, while the Rams have a bunch of high-upside skill players, those players need to develop before they can be considered a threat on any play. That's something that will come with time and experience. We can't call them threats yet.
That being said, Austin will have the ball in his hands a lot this season, and he is a WR3. Cook is a mid-range TE1.
