Who doesn't love a quarterback change? I mean, other than the team making the change. Quarterback changes are big talking points, and it seems like it's never to early to start wondering who is on the hot seat. ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote last week that Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder could be one of the first to lose his job if he doesn't show marked improvement in year three.
"If he struggles, my sense is the Vikings wouldn't hesitate to go to Matt Cassel," Schefter wrote. "There are people around the league who believe Cassel is underrated -- despite what many Chiefs fans might think -- and that if given the opportunity, he would fare well in Minnesota. It's Ponder's job, and it's his to lose. But keep an eye on Cassel."
Just what Vikings fans want to hear: Keep an eye on Matt Cassel. Yes, Ponder has been very disappointing since being selected in the first round two years ago. But it's not just Chiefs fans who think Cassel stinks; most people who watch the NFL hold that point of view. If the Vikings turn to Cassel, it means their season has been lost.
Ponder isn't worth your time in fantasy. If he doesn't improve, the bigger problem for fantasy owners is that he might take Greg Jennings down with him. Jennings is a big-name target, but at this stage of his career and with this quarterback, he is a WR3.
