If you are looking for someone who is expecting a lot out of Saints running back Mark Ingram this year, you probably shouldn't look at me. But head coach Sean Payton is one of those people.
"I know we have high expectations for Mark, and he has high expectations for himself," Payton said Thursday. "He is in great shape right now. I know he is anxious, ... healthy, and probably I would say going into his third year as healthy and as good of shape as he has been. I expect him to be a big part of what we do running the football."
Yes, Ingram is as healthy as he has been entering a training camp as a pro. And with Chris Ivory gone, he should top his career-high in carries (which is only 156). But as I said in those two links above, I just don't think he is that good, and his fantasy value will be capped by sharing backfield work with Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas. Opinions on Ingram vary. I just don't want him.
