While the Jets' best wide receiver is out indefinitely, their top two running backs were also not participating in Friday's practice. Chris Ivory was held out because of some hamstring soreness. He said he will miss "two days, max."
Ivory's likely backup, Mike Goodson , hasn't been at the Jets' facility since camp opened, and head coach Rex Ryan isn't saying much regarding his whereabouts.
"I know where he is and all that stuff and I guess that's all I'm going to leave it at," Ryan said of Goodson on Friday, via Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. "... I said what I said about Mike, and I'm just going to leave it at that. I don't really want to get into the specifics and what I know and all that kind of stuff."
Oh, that's not mysterious at all. Goodson, you may remember, got into some big trouble with the law back in May. It's unknown if that's related to why he has not reported to training camp. He is expected to be the Jets' third-down back this year, but he has missed substantial time over the past two seasons because of hamstring and ankle injuries.
Speaking of hamstring injuries, Ivory is no stranger to them -- or pretty much any injury in the general leg area. So, this soreness is something to watch. The Jets are very high on Ivory, and he is an undervalued RB2, but his health is a major concern.
