Ravens WR Deonte Thompson looking fast, confident at training camp

If you are looking for a really deep sleeper at wide receiver, you may way to keep track of Ravens wide receiver Deonte Thompson. Cornerbacks in camp are having trouble tracking him. Jason Butt of the Ravens blog, "Baltimore Beatdown," wrote Thursday that Thompson "showcased his speed on the football field and looked extremely confident on offense."
Butt opined that Thompson, Jacoby Jones, and Tandon Doss have become the top three contenders to be the team's No. 2 wideout.

Fantasy Analysis:

Thompson never did much on the field at the University of Florida -- his 38 receptions and 570 yards as a junior were his best in college -- but the 2012 undrafted free agent was a track star in the 60, 100, and 200 meters. He reportedly ran a sub-4.30 40-yard dash at his pro day. Yeah, he has serious speed.
Now, we've seen a lot of receivers with a world-class motor try to make it in the NFL only to have no clue how to play football. They could just run. Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell said that's not the case with Thompson, as he is a good route-runner and tough.
Again, he's a very, very deep sleeper, and he will face a lot of competition in camp. But you should want to store his name somewhere in your memory bank.

World Class speed???? There are hundred High School kids every year that run the same times he did. 6.8 in the 60 10.5 in the 100 and 21+ in 200 is hardly world class.
