UPDATE: Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe placed on non-football illness list

Update: Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said after practice that Bowe has a chest virus. It is not considered a big deal.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Chiefs held their first full-team practice today, but they did so without their best wide receiver. Dwayne Bowe @DwayneBowe82 has been placed on the non-football illness list, but it's unclear as to why. While the rest of the team was practicing, Bowe was reportedly working with trainers on a side field. Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star tweeted that Junior Hemingway @YoungHemi21 got a lot of Bowe's snaps during the practice.

Fantasy Analysis:

Bowe signed a five-year deal with the Chiefs during the offseason. He had a disappointing 2012 season in which he missed three games, had just 801 yards and set a career-low with three touchdowns. Expect his stats to shoot up this year. Remember that Bowe was basically handcuffed by Matt Cassel, Brady Quinn, Tyler Palko, and the rest of the Chiefs' pile of bad quarterbacks over the past few years. Alex Smith isn't elite, but he is much more stable than those other guys. And with Andy Reid's pass-first philosophy, Bowe should be targeted often. I think he is a high-end WR2. I said during Tuesday's FFToolbox podcast that I expect Bowe to have the best season of his career, but I should amend that slightly. He won't score 15 touchdowns again, but I can see him recording 80 receptions, 1,200 yards and 7-8 touchdowns.
