The latest development in the camp competition between Giants running backs David Wilson and Andre Brown isn't an unexpected one. The team released its first unofficial depth chart of training camp Thursday, and it shows the two as co-starters. Wilson is also listed at the starting kick returner.
As much as I love Wilson, I understand that Brown will be an important cog in this offense. He will get the goal-line carries as well as some work between the 20s. And if Wilson doesn't hold up as a pass protector, Brown could see even more time on third downs. But in the end, I think Wilson will be the majority RB because of his immense talent. Giants coaches praised him throughout the offseason, complimenting him on the improvements he made as a blocker. He is a game-breaking runner who can contribute as a receiver. Wilson is still well worth a pick after the second round. Brown looks like a handy flex option, and his stock could go up if the Giants decide to split the carries evenly. As an ardent supporter of fantasy football and the Giants, I hope they don't.
