Chiefs QB Alex Smith is 'the best in the league'

Chiefs QB Alex Smith is 'the best in the league'

Sure, it's laughable hyperbole, but that's what makes it fun.
Here is Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson on quarterback Alex Smith: "Ultimately, every team has to have a quarterback. I think we have the best in the league," Pederson said Wednesday, via the Kansas City Star.
"There are a lot of great ones, but over time, Alex has proven he can get it done. He's a sharp guy, he brings a wealth of knowledge, he's experienced, he's a proven winner the last couple of years, and he needs a team to embrace him."

Fantasy Analysis:

Well, at least Pederson, who is entering his first season as an NFL OC, has embraced Smith. The Chiefs traded two relatively high draft picks to get Smith; there's no question it's his team to lead. He has been getting acclimated quickly to Andy Reid's passing offense, but if Kansas City thinks Smith, who is entering his eighth season, is going to transform into something more than a game manager, this offense is going to have a lot of bumps in the road. Again, it's Smith's team to lead, but this offense needs to be focused around Jamaal Charles @jcharles25.
