Darrius Heyward-Bey has to take some time off from competing to be the Cotls' No. 2 wide receiver. The former first-round pick sprained his left knee during practice Sunday. It's unclear how much time he will miss. He and T.Y. Hilton are vying for the starting job across from Reggie Wayne, and Heyward-Bey has reportedly played well during the opening stages of training camp.
Update: ESPN's Chris Mortensen said Monday on the program "NFL Insiders" that Heyward-Bey has an MCL sprain in that knee and is "definitely gonna miss a lot of time here."
It's a big hit to DHB's opportunity to claim a starting job, but it's great news for Hilton. Perhaps he is being slightly overdrafted if he's off the board in the seventh round, but after a 50-861-7 line as a rookie in 2012, he's probably worth it. In the Colts' new, more conservative passing offense, the No. 3 WR probably won't have much fantasy impact.
