Two bits of somewhat concerning news out of Colts camp Tuesday. First, tight end Coby Fleener has been diagnosed with a concussion. He didn't practice today, and his status for Sunday's preseason game against the Giants is unknown.
And according to Tom James of the Terre Haute Tribune-Star, wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey dropped "approximately" five passes during the day's practice.
Fleener now has to be cleared through the league's concussion protocol. As with all concussions, he is out indefinitely. That's tough for the Colts as they are already without Dwyane Allen because of a foot injury. Allen is aiming to be ready by the start of the regular season.
The note about DHB is not surprising, and it's just the latest piece of evidence in favor of T.Y. Hilton as these two compete to start the season as Indy's No. 2 WR. Heyward-Bey has been in the news for drops and a knee injury during camp. Meanwhile, Hilton easily outperformed him during Sunday's exhibition game and should be the clear favorite.
