Redskins running back Alfred Morris carried the ball 335 times last year and made sure no one could doubt his ability to run at the NFL level. His ability to catch is a different story. Morris was scarcely targeted throughout the year, and he recorded just 11 receptions. He said he worked on becoming a better receiver this offseason, and it appears that talk may be more than just talk.
Head coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Morris has "elevated his game and he will catch the ball and be a lot more instrumental in our passing game.
"He has spent a lot of time in the offseason catching the football, running routes and you can see that hard work has paid off because he's a lot more natural. It gives you another dimension."
Not that I'm scrambling to hoist Morris to the top of my PPR rankings, but it would be nice to see him catch 25-30 passes this year. I'm not sure that will happen, but these quotes are something to consider when you consider Morris early in the second round of your draft.
