The Jets have activated wide receiver Santonio Holmes from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Holmes has been on the list for all of training camp as he is on the long road back from his Lisfranc fracture and two subsequent surgeries. Head coach Rex Ryan said Friday that he hopes Holmes can practice soon, but that will be left up to trainers and doctors.
There have been previous reports stating Holmes might miss the first four games of the season or is perhaps even milking the injury so he can skip the rigors of camp. Whatever the case, Holmes is nothing more than a late-round stash in drafts. But if he proves he can be the same ol' Santonio, he may be a nice surprise since he's the No. 1 WR on an NFL team. Sure, that team's QB situation is flawed to say the least, but all No. 1 wideouts have value.
