We are mere hours away from the deadline for all NFL teams to slim their rosters down to 75 players, and a bunch guys were told to turn in their playbooks on Monday. The newly unemployed include a couple of Jets -- wide receiver Braylon Edwards and Joe McKnight -- Bills rookie wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers, Browns wide receiver Jordan Norwood , Redskins wide receiver Donte' Stallworth , and Buccaners wide receiver Derek Hagan .
The scouting report on Rogers back in the spring stated that he is a great talent with a bunch of character concerns. But it's alarming that he's apparently no better than the eighth-best WR in Bills camp. He definitely needs time to mature, and I don't think you've heard the last of him in this league.
Edwards is probably still on the Jets' roster today if not for a leg injury that cost him valuable practice and game time. His career should be over.
With McKnight now gone and Mike Goodson suspended, Bilal Powell is locked in as the Jets' backup running back to start the season.
