Last week, the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero said that the competition between Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas to be the Dolphins' starting running back was "wide open." It must be closed now, because Salguero wrote Monday, "Lamar Miller is your starting running back." His verdict comes after Saturday's preseason game in which Miller ran for 35 yards on eight carries. Thomas gained a grand total of three yards on seven carries.
Of course, Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin complimented both players on their performance in Saturday's game, but that is empty coach speak at its worst. This has no business being a real competition, and Miller should be Miami's lead back by a wide margin. Miller's current ADP has him as an early fifth-round pick. That is a crazy steal right there.
