Darn. I was really looking forward to Arian Foster carrying the ball 42 times on Monday night.
Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Saturday that Foster and backup Ben Tate will be rotated against the Chargers.
"First off, I think Arian's condition is excellent," Kubiak said. "His practice this week has been just excellent. He's a worker -- that's why he plays well -- and I've been impressed by how he's held up. But I think it's early in the season; I don't know how warm it's going to be up there. But I think we're smart to play them both and obviously we'll see how Arian holds up from that standpoint. But I don't think we're looking at the majority load that we maybe look at when he's rolling."
I think Foster and Tate are pretty much going to split carries on Monday. The Texans have every reason to play it safe with Foster after his debilitating summer. Now, don't get cute; he should still be in your lineup. And Tate looks like a solid flex play or maybe even a low-end RB2 against the Chargers. This is a game the Texans should win easily, meaning you might see Tate running the ball often late in the game, pounding into San Diego's worn-down front and spinning the clock.
