Steelers lose 3 players to season-ending injuries, re-sign RB Jonathan Dwyer

There wasn't much to love in most Week 1 games. The play was generally sloppy, and turnovers ruled the afternoon. Every team has reasons to be dissatisfied with its day, but no team had it worse on Sunday than the Steelers. Not only did they lose at home to the Titans, 16-9, they also saw three players go down with season-ending injuries. Center Maurkice Pouncey, running back LaRod Stephens-Howling @LS_H36, and linebacker Larry Foote will all miss the remainder of the 2013 season. Pouncey tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee on the first drive of the game. Stephens-Howling also tore an ACL, and Foote tore a biceps muscle. And kicker Shaun Suisham might be absent for a few weeks due to a hamstring strain, according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo.
The Steelers have re-signed running back Jonathan Dwyer, whom they released a couple of weeks ago.

Fantasy Analysis:

The biggest loss is Pouncey, because that Steelers' O-line wasn't something to write home about, and now it's missing a leader, a three-time All Pro. The Steelers ran for 32 yards on 15 carries versus the Titans -- starter Isaac Redman @ired33 gained 16 total yards on 10 touches and lost one of his two fumbles. Ben Roethlisberger was sacked five times. Rookie running back Le'Veon Bell might return this week, which would be a big upgrade in talent compared to the rest of this backfield, but he may have a tough time going anywhere behind this line. Dwyer certainly doesn't help much, but he could see meaningful playing time if Bell isn't yet ready. It could be a very long season in Pittsburgh, and this is turning into an offense that you target if you are looking for a one-week option on defense.
