The Falcons will make their 2013 home debut on Sunday against the Rams and they will do so with their two top receivers at less than 100 percent.
As expected, wide receiver Roddy White is on the injury report due to his high-ankle sprain, but Julio Jones has joined him due to a knee injury that forced him to miss practice Wednesday and Thursday. Both players went through limited practice Friday. They are listed as questionable, but both are expected to suit up Sunday.
Despite the identical designations, I think you need to approach each player a little differently. We know White is well below full strength; he said after last week's game that it may be a few more weeks until his sprained ankle is fully healed, and he admitted that was a decoy for much of the contest versus the Saints. His role might not change much this week, and I think he is a difficult start against a Rams defense that boasts a talented secondary. Wait as long as you can to make that decision. Perhaps something will come out this weekend to help clear his situation.
I am not as concerned about Jones. Granted, we have very little information on his injury, and more may come to light later that forces me to take a step back. But if Jones is active Sunday morning, you're putting him in your lineup. White is a tougher call.
All of this probably means more targets for Harry Douglas , a popular pickup this week. He caught four passes for 93 yards last week. However, he's only a WR3 or flex option in deeper leagues.
