The Packers have yet to say running back Eddie Lacy won't play this week, but that's what Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Post-Gazette thinks will happen. Vandermause wrote Tuesday that Lacy missing this weekend's game due to his concussion and then returning to the field in Week 5 after the team's bye week is the "most likely scenario." Lacy suffered his concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit from Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather during Sunday's win.
John Kuhn suffered a hamstring ailment in that game that has him iffy for Week 3, so James Starks and Johnathan Franklin are the only healthy running backs on Green Bay's roster right now.
Starks is the hot pickup all across the fantasy landscape after his 100-yard game in relief of Lacy. Considering Franklin didn't even touch the ball, even with the Packers' depth issues at RB, tells you a lot about both players. For one, it's safe to drop Franklin in most leagues. And secondly, Starks will probably have the Packers' backfield all to himself this Sunday against the Bengals. Cincinnati's run defense is much better than Washington's, and Starks is a mediocre talent at best. But the sheer opportunity that awaits him probably makes him at least a decent flex play.
