Stunner: Colts acquire Richardson from Browns for 1st round pick

Anyone that loves random blockbuster trades, this one is for you: The Browns have dealt Trent Richardson, a top-5 pick in 2012, to the Colts for a 2014 No. 1 pick. Let that sink in for a second..

Fantasy Analysis:

The ramifications of this deal are not totally clear at the moment - same goes for Cleveland's motivation - but obviously the Colts have seriously upgraded their running game. Adding a talent like Richardson to QB Andrew Luck and passing game weapons Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Coby Fleener gives Indy a potential dynamic offense from all angles. This certainly cuts into Ahmad Bradshaw @AhmadBradshaw's overall fantasy value, though the veteran likely keeps a role on passing downs. As for Week 3, expect a timeshare scenario as the Colts get their new RB prepared for a different playbook. Eventually, T-Rich takes over.

Meanwhile the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns are bringing in veteran running back Willis McGahee in for a physical. If signed, McGahee would become the Browns top fantasy RB option and therefore a worthy waiver wire pickup. However, tred lightly with those auction dollars; he's on the wrong side of 20 and entering a terrible situation. For those in need of RB this week, Bobby Rainey is worth looking at since we have no clue if McGahee is in game shape.

More on all of this soon once we catch our breath.

What a great move for the Colts. It would seem the Browns have thrown in the towel on this season. I think Cameron will be the only FF player of note on the browns now and that is even up for debate. It will be fun to see what the Colts can do with this offense.

So what do the Browns spend their extra 1st round pick on?
A QB? A RB? An OL?
They need all three.
Meanwhile, I think the Colts just branded themselves champs of the AFC South.

So now the question is A. Foster or T Richardson week 3?

Blockbuster is right. Trent Richardson gives Indy 2/3rds of the new triplets. How I wish they would have taken WR DeAndre Hopkins in this draft.

The Colts will go from winning ugly to winning pretty.

be a great acquisition for the Colts providing Richardsons career isnt short lived(which I believe is what the Browns think), Richardson does take alot of hits

really? you may have had a decision before this trade, but it looks like a pretty easy call right now.

I've been playing Cameron(who has been great BTW) but now that the Browns are putting a third string QB in should I bench Cameron and play Julius Thomas Den v Oak.. I also have Gronk so when he comes back it will be a no brainer but in the mean time any suggestions

@algonquinmatt, it is an easy decision for WEEK 3! You start Foster until Richardson gets in the groove. After week 3 then all bets are off.

@Sugar Lips, Cameron's value actually increases. The Browns are going to be down, and trying to play catch up in every game. Even if Weeden isn't playing, the QB is going to be rushed very often which will lead to check down passes to Cameron.
