The Browns will look very different this week, and I'm not talking about just the loss of Trent Richardson. They will have a new quarterback under center in Week 3 as Brian Hoyer will get the start versus the Vikings in place of Brandon Weeden , who is out with a sprained right thumb. However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Weeden's injury is just a sprain that won't require surgery.
"Weeden could be ready as early as next week," Schefter wrote via Twitter.
But if Weeden is ready to play next week, will the Browns actually play him? I'm not so sure. When head coach Rob Chudzinski was asked Wednesday if Weeden will be the starter once he returns, he responded vaguely.
"I'm going to leave all of the options open," Chudzinski said. "It's a matter of where he's at from a health standpoint -- all of that plays into it -- where we're at and how guys are playing, as well."
I think having Weeden under center would be better for Josh Gordon , but it sounds like Cleveland's brass really wants Hoyer to make it a tough decision. For this week, I am down on Gordon, but I think Jordan Cameron will still see plenty of targets.
