The other shoe has dropped in Bucs land: Tampa has benched quarterback Josh Freeman in favor off rookie Mike Glennon, according to multiple reports. This is what happens when you complete only 45.3 percent of passes, have more interceptions (3) than touchdowns (2) and wins (zero), and just 571 passing yards through three games - and are doing so after a brutal close to the previous season.
Fantasy owners shouldn't continue rostering Freeman in hopes he bounces back. If that does happen, it will be for another team seeing as Freeman is in the final year of his contract. Considering the constant need or QB help around the league, he's a prime candidate for trade before the league-wide Oct. 21 deadline. As for Glennon, the 6-foot-7 passer threw 31 touchdowns in each of his last two seasons with NC State. Don't rush out to get him. For now, just hope he's game enough to keep Vincent Jackson, Mike Williams and Doug Martin relevant. Completing over half his throws would be a good start.
