Browns assure WR Josh Gordon he won't be traded

ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that the Browns were fielding trade offers for wide receiver Josh Gordon @JOSH_GORDONXII, who was returning from a two-game suspension. Gordon responded with a career-high 10 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown in the Browns 31-27 win over the Minnesota Vikings later in the day.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said on Monday that the organization had no plans to trade Gordon, who voiced a similar opinion on the subject. "[Chudzinski] texted me the other day talking about it and just reassuring me there were no trade offers or anything like that," said Gordon.

Fantasy Analysis:

Gordon's performance on the field last weekend is ultimately what forced the Browns hand. The fact that they did not make a deal suggests that either they were never serious about trading Gordon or did not get an acceptable offer. Either way it would be hard to justify trading the second-year wide out who was taken in the second round of last year's supplemental draft and is signed to a manageable contract. Fantasy owners should value Gordon as a top-20 fantasy wide receiver for the remainder of the season.
