Rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton has one catch in four games this season and he'll be stuck on one for an indefinite amount of time. That because Patton suffered a fractured foot during Thursday's game against the Rams. Head coach Jim Harbaugh made the announcement Friday that Patton has a fractured metatarsal -- one of the long bones separating the toes and the middle of the foot. Harbaugh didn't say how long Patton will be out, only that "he's going to miss some time."
I liked Patton coming out of the draft, but this is the second time a broken bone has halted Patton's season; he missed a few weeks of training camp because of a broken finger. He has no fantasy value, but perhaps his injury pushes the Niners to look more into acquiring a veteran, proven wideout. The WR area of San Francisco's roster, past Anquan Boldin, is a whole lot of nothing.
