The New York Post is reporting that New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes is expected to miss at least a few weeks with a hamstring injury he suffered in the team's loss to the Titans last Sunday. With wide receiver Stephen Hill also more than likely out with a concussion he suffered last weekend, the report states that the Jets are expected to sign former Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Nelson, who has 94 career receptions for 1,042 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons.
This is not good news for rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who will be without his top two weapons in the passing game on Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons. Holmes missed most of last season with a foot injury but was off to a solid start this season, hauling in 10 passes for 243 yards a touchdown in four games this season. The absence of Hill as well means that the Jets will be forced to turn to Clyde Gates , Ben Obomanu and the newly signed David Nelson as their top options outside of Kellen Winslow through the air.
