Rams head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday that running back Zac Stacy will get a second straight start this Sunday against the Texans. The fifth-round rookie earned it by rushing for a Rams season-high 78 yards on 14 carries against the Jaguars in Week 5.
It's an easy decision for Fisher given that opening-day starter Daryl Richardson hasn't done much of anything in a few weeks, Isaiah Pead is in the doghouse, and Benny Cunningham is purely a backup. However, Richardson was still significantly involved in this latest game (13 carries), and Cunningham chipped in. So, while Stacy will get the first carries, he is far from owning this backfield. And the going will be much tougher this week against Houston than it was against Jacksonville. Pick up Stacy in case he does run away with this gig (no pun intended), but he is just a flex option right now.
