Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts saw his Sunday end after his first target. Shorts couldn't bring in the pass and was initially ruled out with a shoulder injury. However, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports, via a source, that Shorts' actual injury might deal with his ribs.
"There's concern that Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts III could have a fractured rib closer towards the sternum," Anderson wrote on Twitter. "Shorts was very tender in that region. I was told his lung field obscured the film a bit. There was discussion of Shorts III having a CT Scan Monday morning to derive a more definitive answer thereafter."
It's really too bad as Shorts would have seen plenty of targets in a pass-heavy game for Jacksonville. Instead, Justin Blackmon picked up the slack and looked unstoppable at times versus the Broncos. He caught 14 of his 20 targets for 190 yards. A fractured rib sounds like an injury that will cause Shorts to miss some time. No matter if Shorts does or doesn't play in Week 7, Blackmon will be on the WR1 radar versus the Chargers' poor pass defense. We should have more info on Shorts on Monday.
