The New York Jets officially ruled out wide receiver Santonio Holmes for their Week 7 game against the New England Patriots. Holmes has only played four games this year and none in October. Before these hamstring and foot injuries, Holmes had been a bit underwhelming as New York's No. 1 receiver. WRs Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley will be the two primary WR starters.
Holmes never really got the chance to play at 100-percent which is a bit disappointing considering his presence would really benefit rookie QB Geno Smith and a lot of the young playmakers on the team. In the short-term, it's probably best to simply cut loose your team from Holmes by sending him packing back to the waiver wire. Smith has yet to really string together a good run of games, which is what would be necessary to support Holmes among the many Jets' offense options.
