Who's in and who's out of the early games in Week 8

Who's in and who's out of the early games in Week 8

Coming off an awful week with one injury after another to fantasy stars, it can't get any worse, can it? We can only hope not. Speaking of injuries, we'll be here all morning to give you the news on those who are wounded heading into the early games of Week 8. We'll give you the official word on Jimmy Graham @TheJimmyGraham, DeMarco Murray @DeMarcoMurray, C.J. Spiller @CJSPILLER and many others as each team releases its inactives report. Keep refreshing this post until 1 p.m. Eastern for the latest.

-- Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is officially out. This is a bit of a surprise since he went through limited practice all week, but I guess his sprained knee is not quite ready. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar will split the carries against the Lions, and both of them are just mediocre flex starts.
-- Giants RB Brandon Jacobs is officially inactive. He's still battling a strained hamstring. Peyton Hillis may get 20 touches today against the Eagles and is a high-end flex.
-- Patriots WR Danny Amendola is officially active. He's a WR2-worthy play in standard leagues and even better in PPRs.
-- Saints TE Jimmy Graham is active. This is shocking to me, since Graham hardly practiced this week and has a partially torn plantar fascia. I expect him to be very limited against the Bills. He is a great player, but I would try to play it safe and bench Graham. I know that's near blasphemy; I just don't know how well he can run or cut.
-- Patriots CB Aqib Talib is inactive, as expected, due to strained hip flexor. Give a slight bump up to Mike Wallace and Ryan Tannehill.
-- Cowboys WR Miles Austin @MilesAustinIII is inactive. He's a near-afterthought at this point because of the emergence of Terrance Williams. Linebacker DeMarcus Ware is inactive, as expected.
-- Bills RB C.J. Spiller is inactive. Good. His ankle needs the time off. Fred Jackson @Fred22Jackson is a low-end RB1 versus the Saints.
-- Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe @DwayneBowe82 is active despite a strained groin. I don't think anyone cares. He is going to be locked down by Browns cornerback Joe Haden today.
-- 49ers WR Jon Baldwin is inactive because of an illness. Marlon Moore is active in his place. Moving on ....
-- Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is active after being somewhat limited with a shoulder injury. He's just an OK QB2 in New England.
-- Browns RB Willis McGahee is active. He's been bothered by a knee injury and is a low-end flex versus the Jason Campbell-led Chiefs.
-- Lions RB Reggie Bush is active. He gave the fantasy world a bit of a scare after he missed practice Friday, but he is squarely on the RB1 radar against the Cowboys.
-- Jaguars WRs Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts are active. Blackmon is a good WR1 while Shorts is more of a WR3 versus the Niners in London.
-- Saints WR Lance Moore @LanceMoore16 is active for the first time in weeks. He isn't worth picking up at this point but definitely worth watching. Also, Saints RB Mark Ingram is still inactive with his toe injury.
-- Elsewhere in New England, QB Tom Brady, WR Julian Edelman, and RB Brandon Bolden are all active. Edelman, with Amendola active, is a low-end WR3. Bolden is only a PPR flex. Brady, however, is a QB1 for me. I think he has a good game at home with a couple of his top weapons available against a unimpressive Dolphins pass defense.
-- And in a late-afternoon game today, it has been reported that Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall will not play against the Falcons. This is not a surprise; he was listed as doubtful on injury report. Andre Ellington will split time with Stepfan Taylor and Alfonso Smith, but Ellington is a RB2 in PPR leagues. Arizona has almost no choice but to give him more touches now.

Players who have already been ruled out for Week 8 include Roddy White, Jermichael Finley, Nick Foles, and Josh Freeman. Those players and the impact of their absences will be discussed below in the "Fantasy Analysis" section.

Fantasy Analysis:

-- White's frustrating season continues, now with a recent hamstring injury added to his ankle woes. He didn't practice at all this week, and he is basically out indefinitely. Harry Douglas remains the Falcons' No. 1 wideout and while you shouldn't expect him to repeat his Week 7 stat line -- seven catches, 149 yards and a touchdown -- he is a fine WR3 versus Arizona.
-- Finley returned home this week after a spinal-cord contusion put him in the hospital for a few days. Everyone's hoping for a quick recovery, but Finley is probably done for the season. Andrew Quarless is now the Packers' starting tight end. He's more of a blocker than a receiver, and a low-end TE2 at the moment.
-- Foles is out due to a concussion he sustained in Week 7. Fortunately for the Eagles, they won't need to turn to way-in-over-his-head rookie Matt Barkley since Michael Vick is ready to play after missing some time with a strained hamstring. He is a QB1 versus the Giants.
-- Freeman shouldn't have played in Monday's game against the Giants, and now he won't play against the Packers because of concussion. Christian Ponder will start at quarterback for the Vikings. Fantasy impact: minimal.

With Steven Jax coming back I have to drop one RB. Which should I drop between SJax, Gio Bernard, Danny Woodhead (Bye Week), Zac Stacy or Trent Richardson (Bye Week)???
