The Philadelphia Eagles made it official Wednesday by naming quarterback Nick Foles as their Week 9 starter against the Oakland Raiders. QB Michael Vick was already ruled out after re-aggravating his hamstring and reports of the team leaning towards Foles were circulating as early as Sunday night. After clearing the post-concussion protocol, the second-year QB will look to improve upon his performances in Weeks 5 and 6 while quickly forgetting about Week 7.
Vick's career looks just about over with the Eagles. He wore down especially fast this year and with the Eagles only mathematically eligible for a playoff run, it is best to evaluate their QB prospects between Foles and Matt Barkley. Foles gives the team the best chance to win right now and Barkely will get his opportunities sooner or later. Neither quarterback has cemented the position though, so we'll see how this plays out in the second half of the '13 season. Foles is a sneaky QB2 with higher upside when the matchup works in his favor.
