After 11 months of rest, recovery and rehab, the Carolina Panthers will likely have running back Jonathan Stewart back in action in Week 9. Stewart had surgery on both of his ankles. He practiced fully on Wednesday and currently does not appear on the team's injury report. RB DeAngelo Williams missed practice Wednesday with a quad injury and looks questionable to play.
The world needs a fully healthy Stewart, especially if Williams does not play. In a perfect world, J-Stew plays great immediately and firmly establishes himself as the team's best RB so when Williams does return, it is in a limited role. The Panthers' backfield is guaranteed to be a hot mess if the coaching staff does not actively ensure one back is definitively ahead of the other in terms of touches and production. This sort of aimlessly uncertainty kills the fantasy value of the whole backfield. We'll see how this plays out.
