A rib injury sustained in the fourth quarter knocked Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard out of the game prematurely. After going to the locker room with trainers, he emerged later to watch his Bengals give away the win on a safety in overtime. Bernard had a huge day, gaining 104 total yards on 13 touches and scoring two TDs. The Bengals continue to use BenJarvus Green-Ellis as their primary back with Bernard filling in situationally.
Bernard is clearly more talented and athletically dynamic than BJGE, yet they continue to use the rookie very sporadically. Considering this injury, it's likely for good reason. The former UNC back is listed as 5'9" and 208 pounds. His excellent agility can put him in some tight situations and he can't dodge or juke his away from every tacklers. He's currently listed as questionable with some extra few days to rest before Week 10.
