Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder was forced out of action late in the third quarter of Thursday's eventual win over the Redskins. The former Florida State QB dove for the pylon in an attempt to score, but ended up with a dislocated left shoulder. The play led to an Adrian Peterson punch-in TD from one yard out and Minnesota held on to the lead through the fourth quarter. Matt Cassel replaced Ponder after his injury.
Ponder had a nice game (271 yards, two TDs) and the starting job will likely return to him once he's able to return. When he will return is unclear as he requires more tests to determine the severity of the injury. In the immediate short-term, Cassel did replace Ponder. Josh Freeman was active against Washington so it remains to be seen what Minnesota has in mind for the former Tampa Bay QB. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out as Minnesota travels to Seattle in Week 11.
