Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was arrested for speeding and possession of marijuana on Sunday and police confirmed the report Tuesday. To summarize the police department's news release, Bowe was pulled over for driving 48 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer detected an odor of marijuana and asked the driver and two passengers to exit the vehicle. The car contained small amounts marijuana and Bowe was placed under arrest. One of the passengers, who was not identified, posted bond for Bowe and the second passenger, who was also said to be in possession of marijuana.
Bummer for Bowe. On the bright side, I was happy to hear he was only doing a 48 in a 35. Every time you hear someone getting a speeding ticket, they're doing 100 in a 55 or something to that effect. This is more or less breaking news so we don't know what kind of discipline will be enacted against Bowe. It'll certainly be some kind of suspension and/or fines. Bowe is scheduled with a court date for December 18, 2013 so hopefully this can be resolved quickly so he can move from this mistake.
