49ers tight end Vernon Davis said Tuesday that he was "feeling great" two days after suffering a concussion. But at the end of the practice week, Davis' fantasy owners probably don't know what to feel about him for Sunday's game against the Saints. For the second consecutive day, Davis went through practice while sporting non-contact jersey, a sign that he hasn't yet been cleared to play. But he could gain that clearance at some point this weekend. For what it's worth, Davis sounded fairly optimistic when asked if he will suit up.
"It all depends on how I feel the next two days," Davis said. "Up to this point, I've been fine. No complaints or worries."
We continue to play the waiting game here. Hopefully Davis gets cleared by Sunday morning since this 49ers-Saints meeting is a late-afternoon start, which would complicate matters for Davis' owners if we don't hear anything about him before then. If Davis is active, he should be in your starting lineup even though the Saints have allowed just one tight end to top 70 yards all season.
