Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz told reporters running back Reggie Bush was not benched, or had his snaps reduced, for a fumble. Instead, his reasoning was, "Reggie in horse racing wouldn't be called a mudder. He's an explosively quick guy. He's better on a fast track." While Bush sat on the sidelines, the Lions worked in RBs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick. Bush finished the game with 14 touches for 54 total yards.
Bush's touches in his last two games are slightly lower than what he was seeing in previous weeks. He does have two lost fumbles in his last three games, so hopefully he can work that out sooner rather than later. Bush's bread and butter is contributing on all three downs, so if the Lions start bringing in Bell and Riddick more often, it will really chip away from the former Heisman winner's final yardage totals. Bush is still a dependable low RB1 or high RB2 for the remainder of the season.
